WISERISE Clean Agent & Inert Gas Fire Protection

Fixed Inert Gas & Clean Agent Systems (IG-541 / IG-55 / IG-100 · HFC-227ea · FK-5-1-12)

Class-compliant, residue-free suppression for high-value and mission-critical spaces. Due to higher life-cycle cost, these systems are recommended for special applications such as ECR, control rooms, switchboard & server spaces, where downtime and contamination must be minimized.

IMO FSS Code Ch.5 Fixed gas system engineering & control
MSC.1/Circ.1267 Guidelines for non-CO₂ gas systems in machinery/pump rooms
ISO 14520 / NFPA 2001 Clean-agent design references

Applications

Residue-free total-flooding for sensitive electronics and control spaces; equivalent-gas options for machinery areas.

Control & ECR Rooms
Bridge comms, ECR, switchboard rooms, server/rack spaces—no clean-up, minimal downtime (FK-5-1-12 / HFC-227ea / IG).
Machinery & Pump Rooms
Where CO₂ is undesirable, approved equivalent gas systems may be applied with specific design and verification.
UPS / Nav & Comms Spaces
Protection of electronics and cable voids where water or foam residue is unacceptable.
Archives / Sensitive Stores
Low-residue, low-corrosivity agents reduce collateral damage in special rooms.
Hazard Enclosures / Cabinets
Local total-flooding for MCCs, switchgears, CNC/drive cabinets as per design standards.
Spaces with Critical Uptime
Where shutdown and clean-up costs are high—agents selected by toxicity limits and environmental rules.

Project Delivery Flow

From hazard study to class handover—aligned with IMO FSS Chapter 5 and MSC.1/Circ.1267 for equivalent systems.

01
Hazard & Scope Definition
Identify protected spaces and target agent (FK-5-1-12 / HFC-227ea / IG-541/55/100) based on toxicity, venting, and downtime impact.
02
Survey & Leakage/Vent Study
Enclosure integrity, hold time and pressure relief; machinery spaces assessed for equivalent-gas requirements.
03
Engineering & Class Submittal
Agent quantity calculations, nozzle layout, safety controls and interlocks; drawings and manuals for class approval.
04
Procurement & Fabrication
Cylinders, valves, manifolds, selector valves, nozzles, panels, release gear; FAT as required by class.
05
Installation & Commissioning
Pressure/leak tests, functional and alarm interlocks; agent discharge and door-fan tests where applicable.
06
Handover & Lifecycle
Class dossiers, crew training, refill/recert plans; periodic testing per ISO/NFPA practices.

Compliance & Classification

Engineered to IMO FSS Code Chapter 5; equivalent-gas approvals per MSC.1/Circ.1267; design references ISO 14520 / NFPA 2001. Environmental rules for HFCs apply in some flags.

Customer Guidance & Applications

How to start with WISERISE, what to send for quotation, and which spaces justify clean-agent/inert-gas protection.

Information Required for Quotation
  • Vessel/type & IMO; protected spaces & volumes; known leakage paths/ventilation details
  • Class/flag requirements; whether “equivalent to CO₂” is intended for machinery
  • Preferred agent (FK-5-1-12 / HFC-227ea / IG-541/55/100) & justification
  • Required interlocks: alarms, shutdowns, ventilation, door controls
  • Delivery schedule & port; refill/recert expectations

Engineering references applied: IMO FSS Ch.5, MSC.1/Circ.1267, ISO 14520 / NFPA 2001.

Where It Makes Sense (Cost-Justified)
  • Electronics & Control: ECR, switchboard rooms, bridge comms, server/UPS rooms
  • Special Machinery: When CO₂ is undesirable—apply equivalent-gas guidelines
  • High Downtime Cost: Spaces where residue/cleanup time from water/foam is unacceptable
  • Environmental/Flag Limits: Where HFC use is restricted—prefer IG or FK-5-1-12

Note: Clean agent & inert gas systems have higher CAPEX/OPEX—use selectively for high-value, residue-sensitive, mission-critical spaces.
