High- vs. Low-Expansion — Where to Apply
- High-Expansion: Machinery spaces & cargo pump rooms—rapid volume filling via generators for oil-fire suppression.
- Low-Expansion: Tank deck/ro-ro/helideck—blanketing spills/jet fires using monitors or applicators; proportioning 1–3% (as approved).
- Both require approved concentrates; do not mix unlike types or brands unless explicitly approved compatible.
Design ensures required discharge time, foam rate & total quantity per regulation and class.
